Selection of Optimal Locations for Electricity Generation Using Concentrated Solar Power Technologies in Ghana

The selection of an optimum location for the installation a Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) plant is very vital to its overall performance. Any selected should suitably satisfy some favourable criteria such as high direct normal irradiance, ambient temperature, lower wind speed, level cloud cover and availability source water. In this paper, optimal location(s) CSP in Ghana achieved using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) weighting then set Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) methods ranking various alternatives. MDCM used work include Vise Kriterijumsa Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR), Technique Order Performance by Similarity Ideal Solution (TOPSIS), Complex Proportional Assessment (COPRAS). results indicate that VIKOR COPRAS gave closely related rankings while were not compared other two methods. However, all three ranked Bawku, town Upper East region Ghana, most suitable plant. locations, i.e., Navrongo, Yendi, Wa, Bolgatanga Savelugu, are northern part country.
